Bobbin Lace 101

  • Textile Arts Center 505 Carroll Street Brooklyn, NY, 11215 United States (map)

Bobbin lace is a lacemaking technique in which lengths of thread wound on bobbins are twisted and braided. As the work progresses, the lace is held in place with pins placed in a lace pillow following a pattern. In this class, students will learn the basic fundamentals of Torchon lace and how it's constructed. We will be focusing on half stitch, cloth stitch, and whole stitch techniques, while constructing simple bobbin lace sampler.
